The neighbours of Valleyview, a semi-rural neighbourhood above South Main in Penticton, had a unique idea to stitch their community together during the pandemic. After receiving a Neighbourhood Small Grant, this neighbourhood decided to adorn their long and winding road, which is a combination of agriculture and country residential lots, with quilt squares to display outside their homes.
“We wanted a way to celebrate and beautfiy our community…and to show those who visit our road that we are not living in isolation,” says the organizer.
Equipping neighbours with DIY kits with patterns to create their own quilts, they enjoyed an awesome turnout, with loads of creativity and fun on display.
