Thank You for Supporting Our Successful ‘Similkameen 5K Fun Run’ Event!

We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone involved with the Neighbourhood Small Grants for supporting our event. Your contribution made a significant impact, and we are thrilled to share the success of our first-ever ‘Similkameen 5K Fun Run/Walk.’

Initially, we had planned to organize a bike ride in our communities of Cawston and Keremeos. However, at a community meeting, it was proposed hosting a ‘Fun Run’ on the trail instead. This idea was embraced with enthusiasm, leading to the inception of our event.

On April 21, 2024, approximately 100 participants joined us for the 5 km loop, either running or walking along the beautiful trail. Thanks to the Neighborhood Small Grant, we were able to provide healthy food for participants, advertise the event effectively, and purchase supplies to ensure it was a memorable experience for everyone.

The ‘Fun Run’ was not only a day of fitness and fun but also an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the Similkameen Starfish Pack program. We are proud to announce that the event’s success has helped sponsor the cost of providing three backpacks filled with essential supplies to local kids throughout the school year.

The overwhelming success of the ‘Fun Run’ has inspired us to start planning another event for next April. We look forward to applying for another Neighbourhood Small Grant to continue fostering community spirit and supporting worthy causes.
