The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen typically holds an annual granting cycle, with grant applications being accepted between August and October.
Our coverage area is identical to that of the Regional District of the Okanagan Similkameen so we are able to make grants to any registered charity within this area.
The Community Foundation has a goal of knowing and understanding the unique issues and circumstances facing each charity we work with. We feel this is the best possible way to make wise granting decisions.
With that in mind, charities are encouraged to contact us throughout the year to begin developing a relationship. It is also wise to provide the Foundation with an initial “expression of interest” letter which briefly summarizes your charity’s intentions at the next granting cycle.
Charities which have taken the time to communicate with the Foundation in advance of their application typically fair much better through the granting process. This is because on going communication is essential to ensuring that the Foundation fully understands the charity’s goals and objectives.
