Dragonfly Pond Family Society

Imagine having a child with complex care needs.  The shock and pain of the initial realization would be only the beginning of a life long struggle to support and assist your child.  The mental, emotional and spiritual strain would be heavy.  While the services available to children with complex care needs are less than ideal, they do have some support from within the medical system.

The people that often go without support are the parents of these children and this is where the Dragonfly Pond Family Society comes in.  They offer respitality services for families struggling to survive the challenging life of raising a child with complex care needs.  The wonderful folks at Dragonfly Pond work hard to provide a safe and fun environment for these children so that their families can rest and rejuvenate themselves.

Dragonfly Pond has a variety of programs for children with complex needs, many that make the children as active as possible within the limitations of their illness.  The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan is honoured, this year, to support the work of the Dragonfly Pond Society by helping with the purchase of two special-needs bikes that will allow young children to enjoy the thrill of riding a bike.

In addition to the bikes, a number of other items are being purchased including a belly bumper, balance spheres, and a bounce house.
