Board Members
Paul McCann: A chartered accountant, Paul McCann is President of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan.He sat on the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce board for six years spending one term as president and has been a member of several other community boards and committees since moving to Penticton eight years ago.
Kim Lyster: Kim Lyster serves as the Vice President of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan. Her career in the non-profit sector spans 25+ years, including a variety of leadership positions. She most recently served as the Executive Director of the Penticton & District Community Resources Society. Kim is involved with the Community Foundation movement because she believes it exemplifies the capacity of community and its citizens to care for one another through cultivating lasting legacies, stimulating innovative programs, and celebrating the diversity and generosity of contribution.
Marielle Brule: Marielle Brule is a partner at White Kennedy Chartered Accountants is Board Treasurer.Besides serving on the Board of the Community Foundation, she is also the treasurer for Critteraid. In addition, she has volunteered for many years with the Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce. Marielle has been on the Board since 2009 and is actively involved with the Policy Committee, which regularly reviews the Foundation’s Policies and Procedures manual.
Patrick Bell:Patrick Bell has lived in Summerland for 16 years and joined the Board in 2006. A lawyer, Patrick is also a director with the Summerland Action Festival Association and has been involved with the Summerland Community Advisory Board, the Summerland Kinsmen, the Kettle Valley Steam Railway Society and served as president of the Summerland Chamber of Commerce.
Robert Hawes: Robert has worked in the private and non-profit sectors in the environmental field for the past 30 years and joined the Board in 2006. Robert was also involved with the Naramata Citizens Association, the Environmental Roundtable and chaired the South Okanagan Conservation Program. Robert is excited about the Community Foundation’s long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and community education.
Tom Kampman: Tom joined the Board of the Community Foundation in October 2011. He has lived in Penticton since 1993 and practices law at Kampman, Oliver, Keane, McAndrews..
Susan Kelly: Susan is a Certified Financial Planner and has spent over 26 years in the financial planning industry as an Executive Financial Consultant with Investors Group Financial Services, working primarily with clients who are retired or about to retire. She is the Chair of the Kaleden Parks and Recreation Commission, and chaired Kaleden’s Centennial Celebrations. Previous boards include the OSNS Child Development Centre and The Glenfir School. Susan highly supports the Community Foundation as a wonderful way to leave a lasting legacy that directly benefits the local Community.
Graham Lyle: Graham Lyle joined the Board of the Community Foundation in April 2011. Graham lives in Summerland with his family and works as a Professional Advisor with Investors Group in Penticton. He has lived in Summerland for 20 years and feels fortunate for the opportunity to give back, through the Community Foundation, to the communities that he lives and works in..
Andre Martin: Andre Martin is the general manager of the Penticton Herald. He is very active in the community, serving on many different boards and committees. Andre has been on the Board of the Community Foundation since 2008 and has served as the chair of the Grants Committee and the Marketing Committee. Andre has a passion for helping in the community and keeps himself very busy doing just that!
Doug McPherson : Doug McPherson is the owner of Grant King Men’s Wear and was born and raised in Penticton. Since returning in 1985, Doug has been very active in community, serving on several different boards. Doug sat on the Foundation’s Grants Committee for 3 years before joining the Board in 2010. Doug says that, “without the financial support of the CFSO, many charities would have to cut programs or even struggle for survival. The scope of assistance offered by the CFSO is truly amazing.”
Paulette Rennie: Paulette Rennie is the President of Valley First Credit Union and has spent over 30 years in the banking industry. Over the years she has been active in various associations, including the Oliver Chamber of Commerce and the Fairview Mountain Golf Course. Paulette sits on the Board of the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan because she loves the strong focus and commitment on helping the many societies and groups that work hard to make a difference in our communities.
Aaron McRann: Aaron joined the CFSO as its Executive Director in November 2009. He came to Penticton in 2002 from Kamloops, where he worked in senior management at a security firm. Since moving to Penticton, Aaron has worked at the Penticton Chamber of Commerce, utilizing his managerial, human resources, and technology skills to their fullest. Aaron has been a very active community member since 2002 and is married with two children.The Board of the Community Foundation would like to acknowledge Chris Hawkins and Jeff Omland for their years of service to the Community Foundation. Both men retired from the Board this fall. Their contributions have played a large part in the continuing growth of the Foundation. Thank you very much!
